Pet travel requirements vary according to the country, airline, route, breed, age and travel date. The answers below provide general guidance. Floof VIPets will confirm the requirements applying to your pet’s individual relocation.

Contact Floof VIPets as early as possible. We generally require at least 10 working days after receiving the complete documents and payment, but some destinations require several weeks or months of preparation.
For better airline availability, particularly during busy travel periods, we recommend starting at least four weeks before your preferred departure date.

Estimates are normally prepared within two business days after we receive the complete information.
If the relocation requires support from an overseas pet shipper, the estimate may take longer. We may need to wait for their updated fees, including local government and handling charges in the pet’s origin or destination country.
To proceed, please confirm that you accept our estimate. We will then issue the applicable invoice.
Once payment is received, we will review your pet’s records and provide a relocation plan covering the required veterinary procedures, documents, permits, crate and travel arrangements.
Please do not arrange any vaccinations, blood tests or government documents until we have reviewed your pet’s case and provided instructions.

The Floof VIPets service fee covers our professional relocation management and administrative work. It does not include costs charged by airlines, government authorities, veterinarians or other third-party providers.

Floof VIPets manages the agreed services in the UAE and coordinates with trusted overseas pet shippers when assistance is required outside the UAE.
For pets travelling to the UAE, an overseas pet shipper may assist with export documents and departure procedures. For pets departing from the UAE, an overseas pet shipper may assist with import requirements, customs clearance and final delivery.
The services and fees for each side of the relocation will be clearly listed in your estimate.
Floof VIPets does not normally provide document-checking-only or airport-only services.
Travel documents are connected to vaccinations, permits, airline requirements and government procedures. Managing the agreed relocation process allows us to check that these requirements are completed in the correct order.
Requirements depend on the origin, destination, airline and travel method. Common documents include:
Floof VIPets will provide a route-specific document checklist after reviewing your pet’s case.
A microchip is normally required for international pet travel. The microchip number must match the number shown on the vaccination records, laboratory reports, permits and health certificate.
For UAE travel, an ISO-compatible 15-digit microchip is normally required. We will check that the microchip number is correctly recorded and matches your pet’s vaccination records and other travel documents.
The UAE classifies countries according to their rabies risk. Pets arriving from countries classified as high risk generally require a rabies antibody titre test in addition to a valid rabies vaccination.
The test measures the level of rabies antibodies in your pet’s blood. A result of at least 0.5 IU/ml is normally required. The blood sample must be processed by an accepted laboratory, and additional timing rules may apply.
Country classifications and requirements can change, so Floof VIPets will verify the current rules for your route.
If the result is below 0.5 IU/ml, consult your veterinarian. Your pet may need another rabies vaccination followed by a new blood test after the required waiting period.
This can change the planned travel date. Do not arrange a new test or vaccination until the timing has been checked against the destination requirements.
A UAE pet import permit is currently valid for 90 days from its issue date. It must remain valid when your pet arrives in the UAE.
Processing time can vary, and approval is controlled by the UAE authorities. We recommend not confirming non-refundable travel arrangements until the necessary permits and airline approvals have been obtained.
Current UAE rules generally allow a person to import up to two companion animals per year. Exceptions may apply to pets belonging to UAE residents returning to the country.
Floof VIPets will check the applicable requirements when reviewing your case.
The UAE restricts the import of certain dog breeds and their crossbreeds. Airlines may also have their own breed restrictions, which can be different from the UAE government list.

Yes. Original vaccination records, health certificates, permits and laboratory reports may be required during check-in, customs clearance or veterinary inspection.
Digital copies are useful for advance review but may not replace original documents. Floof VIPets will confirm which originals must accompany the pet or passenger.
Pet in Cabin: The pet travels in an airline-approved carrier inside the passenger cabin. Airline, route, size and weight restrictions apply.
Pet as Excess Baggage: The pet travels in the aircraft’s designated live-animal area in the cargo hold. The booking is linked to the accompanying passenger’s flight.
Pet as Manifest Cargo: The pet also travels in the aircraft’s designated live-animal area in the cargo hold but is booked through the airline’s cargo division under an air waybill. The pet can travel on the same flight as the owner or on a different flight.
Most pets entering the UAE travel as manifest cargo. Limited in-cabin entry may be available through Abu Dhabi on specific airlines and routes, subject to airline and UAE government approval.
Excess-baggage entry is generally not available for standard UAE pet imports. Do not purchase a non-refundable ticket until your pet’s travel method has been confirmed.
For Pet in Cabin and Pet as Excess Baggage, the passenger must contact the airline, complete the pet-booking request and pay the airline directly. Floof VIPets provides route guidance, document support, crate or carrier assessment and booking instructions.
For Pet as Manifest Cargo, Floof VIPets coordinates the cargo booking and applicable handling services when these are included in the accepted estimate.
Yes. A pet travelling as manifest cargo can travel without the owner and may travel on a different flight.
In-cabin and excess-baggage travel require an accompanying passenger whose booking is linked to the pet.

Your pet must be able to stand naturally, turn around and lie down comfortably. The crate or carrier must also meet the requirements of the selected airline and travel method.
Floof VIPets will assess your pet’s measurements, recommend the suitable crate or carrier size, and check that it meets the applicable travel requirements before departure.
Possibly. Floof VIPets will check the crate’s internal dimensions, condition, ventilation, fasteners, door and overall construction.
The airline may reject a damaged, modified or incorrectly sized crate, even if the same crate was accepted for a previous journey.
Snub-nosed breeds can face additional airline, route and seasonal restrictions because they may be more vulnerable to breathing difficulties.
Acceptance depends on the breed, medical condition, temperature, aircraft, destination and airline policy. A larger crate, veterinary assessment or additional documents may be required. Travel cannot be guaranteed until the airline approves the pet.
Sedation is generally not recommended for air travel because it can affect breathing, balance and circulation.
Medication should only be given under the direction of a veterinarian and in accordance with the airline’s policy. Never administer a sedative shortly before travel without veterinary and airline approval.
Introduce the crate several weeks before departure when possible. Encourage your pet to enter it voluntarily, rest inside and become comfortable with the door being closed for short periods.
Avoid introducing an unfamiliar crate for the first time on the day of travel.
The pet is checked in at the airline’s cargo terminal and handled through the airline’s live-animal procedures. During the flight, the pet travels in the aircraft’s designated pressurized and temperature-controlled live-animal area, when the aircraft is approved to carry animals.
Floof VIPets monitors the published flight status and provides remote updates throughout the journey. Direct observation of the pet is not available while the aircraft is in flight.
Pet clearance takes a minimum of two hours after the flight lands. It may take longer depending on aircraft unloading, cargo handling, customs procedures, veterinary inspection, document processing, queues and authority availability. A fixed release time cannot be guaranteed.
Pets that meet all UAE import requirements are not normally placed in quarantine. Missing, incorrect or non-compliant documents may result in delays, quarantine, refusal of entry or re-export at the owner’s expense.
